November 25, 2008

Lil Wayne has set the hip hop world abuzz with a recent announcement of tour dates for his heavily anticipated I am Music tour. This has to be one of the most anticipated shows in years, so you can bet its gonna be huge.

“I made the Carter III so that whatever song is on it, it will stick with you forever,” Lil Wayne says, according to his label Motown Music. “Lil Wayne scored Universal Motown’s biggest first week ever, selling over one million units in one week of Tha Carter III in June. “Lollipop” shattered records holding steady for 12 weeks at #1 – the longest run for any #1 song in this decade. It’s no wonder that Blender crowned him the ‘Greatest Rock Star Alive,’” said the label.

So Lil Wayne far he has announced 24 cities for the I am Music tour. The first show is in Miami, with notable stops including a show in Atlanta for New Years, a stop in Wayne’s hometown New Orleans, a stop in Oakland, two in Los Angeles, a few stops in Canada, a show in Detroit, some stops on the East Coast including Uniondale, Hartford, Atlantic City and Worcester. Lil Wyane will bring a number of acts on the road with him, including T-Pain, Gym Class Heroes, Keyshia Cole and Keri Hilson. If that’s not a great show I really don;t know what is.

The I Am Music Tour will help bolster Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter III, which has been one of the biggest selling albums of the year. The albums fourth single, “Mrs. Officer” has been a smash hit so far. Wayne has also said he want’s to get back to the studio soon to get another album on shelves.

There are also some rumors floating around that Jay-Z will make a few appearances to perform Mr. Carter. We cannot confirm or deny the rumor, but any Lil Wayne show is going to be amazing regardless.
